We move towards this with our Mission:

to serve the city in love and faith with authentic connections to develop a movement of hope filled people rooted in Yesu.

and are guided by words of scripture:

“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

We believe in...

We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, fully inspired and without error in the original manuscripts, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

II Tim. 3:16; II Pet. 1:21  Isa. 55:11 John 20:31, Mark 13:31

We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons, that these are equal in every divine perfection, and that they execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence and redemption.

Matt. 28:19; Ephesians 4; I John 5:7; Matthew 3:16-17; II Corinthians 13:14)

We believe in God, the Father, an infinite, personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love. We believe that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of all people, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.

Psalm 90:2 Genesis 1:1, 26, 27 Matthew 28:19

We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit, fully man and fully God. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings. We believe in His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people, and personal visible return to earth.

I Tim. 2:5,6; Gal. 1:6-9; Phil. 2:9-11

We believe in the Holy Spirit who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ, and that He is an abiding helper, teacher and guide. We believe that the Holy Spirit empowers the church to carry out the mission of God through the working of different gifts.

Acts 1:8 John 14:16-17, John 16:7-13 Galatians 5:25 Ephesians 1:13 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16 1 Cor. 12:1-11

We believe that salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. We believe that all people are sinners by nature and by choice and are, therefore, under condemnation. We believe that the Holy Spirit is at work continuously transforming toward the likeness of Christ those who repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ as Savior. We believe that in truly placing one’s faith in Christ, a person becomes a new creation, wholly cleansed of sins past, present, and future, and enters into this work of the Holy Spirit to become more and more a living representation of Christ.

John 3:5-8; Heb.10: 19-25; Gal. 2:20

We believe in the universal church, a living spiritual body of which Christ is the head and all regenerated persons are members. We believe in the local church, consisting of a company of believers in Jesus Christ, baptized on a credible profession of faith, and associated for worship, work and fellowship. We believe that God has laid upon the members of the local church the primary task of giving the gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost world.

1 Cor. 12:12-31, Matt. 28:18-20

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ has committed two ordinances to the local church: baptism and the Lord’s Supper. We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water into the name of the triune God. We believe that the Lord’s Supper was instituted by Christ for commemoration of His death. We believe that these two ordinances should be observed and administered until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 11:23-26, Luke 22:14 -20, Mathew 28:19, Acts 2:38

We believe in the personal and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth and the establishment of His kingdom. We believe in the resurrection of the body, the judgment of the just and the unjust, and the fulfillment of Christ’s kingdom in the new heavens and the new earth.

Rev. 21:1-5; Rev. 20:7-15

We believe God is merciful and just. We believe, therefore, that we should share his concern for justice and reconciliation throughout human society and for the liberation of men and women from every kind of oppression. We believe that because men and women are made in the image of God, every person, regardless of race, religion, color, sexual orientation, culture, class, sex or age, has an intrinsic dignity because of which he or she should be respected and served, not exploited. We believe that our love for God and neighbor should lead to fighting for the oppressed, alienated and discriminated. We believe we are to love others as we have been loved from our sin and bondage and now we are free.

Micah 6:8

We believe culture is beautiful and an expression of what it means to be created in the image of a creative God. We believe culture is rich and good, and yet because man is a sinner, culture is inevitably influenced by brokenness. But we believe that because we as his people are redeemed by God, our cultures can be received, rethought, redeemed and, at the last, the pieces that are ungodly should be rejected. We believe that no culture is superior; every culture should be seen, understood, and evaluated in the light of the gospel. We believe through the gospel is how every culture should be embraced.

Cor 9:19-23

Our Core Values
5 commitments we make, from the leadership to our community, from our community to our city.

These values grew out of our partnership with our mother church, were built up by our leaders’ prayers, and are rooted in the love of Christ at work in the human condition.

At Flood, we want you just like you are. Suit and tie? Fancy dress and high heels? T-shirt and jeans? Come on in and worship the Lord. Nothing you did last night will ever separate you from the love of God and we don’t want it to separate you from church either. Of course, our prayer is that we all come as we are but that we continuously meet Jesus and allow the Holy Spirit to convict us and show us what He wants us to change.

At Flood, we want to be generous people. Not just people who are generous with our financial giving, but people who are generous with our time, with our energy, with our love. We want to be known for how we love; a big part of loving is how much we can give. (We also love to eat–so we’re committed to be generous with our food!)

The first thing we learn about God in the Bible is that he is a Creator. So at Flood, we believe we are called to model him in this way too. We value using our creativity–be it through the arts or through problem solving–as a way to give God glory. We want to engage your creativity, too, and together, know more of God’s goodness on earth.

This is one of the most important Core Values that we share with our sending church, Flood Lilongwe. Our college campuses show us that no matter how many parents attend church, many young people are rejecting God. We want them to know they have value in and of themselves and that Jesus does not just belong to their parents or their parents’ ways.

We believe that Truth is of utmost importance. We believe that Grace is the only thing that allows us to live. So at Flood, we believe it is important to speak truthfully, but always with grace. Grace will abound from us, but we will never hide the truth. Truth will be spoken by us, but hard truths will always be tempered by love and grace.

A Quick History of Flood Church

Our church is a home and a family of people doing the best we can.

We are broken. We are sinful. We are flawed. But we are doing the best we can to love Jesus and live the life he calls us to. We are human. Until the day he calls us to our eternal homes to be with him in the ultimate new creation, we will continue to pursue him faithful with what we can. In good times where everything makes sense and this looks obvious and in bad times when everything is upside down and it would be easy to think someone isn’t trying at all… While still holding each other accountable to the faith we have been given, we give each other the benefit of the doubt. We choose to believe this to be true: everyone is doing the best they can with what they have.
And we extend this same belief to you.
